The scheme is a dormer loft conversion on top of a two-storey detached house. The original space was uninhabitable with obstructing roof structures and was used to store the water cylinder and air-con units. A dormer was added to open up a view towards the back garden emphasising the relationship to the River Thames at the end. The design accommodates an open plan communal study/work area and a kid’s bedroom. Both rooms are flooded with natural light. The ceilings have complex geometrical forms derived from existing and new structures, thus becoming the main character of the loft space.
